Constructibility Reviews for LAUSD Continue (07/31/2009)
Since 1997, O'Connor has worked with LA Unified School District, the largest public school system in California, providing cost estimating, scheduling, constructibility reviews, construction management, and claims review services. Most recently, O'Connor is leading the constructibility review program for projects throughout the District. The goal of this program is to minimize potential change orders and use our construction expertise to determine what information is missing from drawings, not just reacting to what is presented in the documents.
O'Connor just completed a detailed constructibility review for the District's new High School #15, with a project budget of $102 million. The flagship school, located in San Pedro, will service over 800 students and include several energy efficient elements, such as:
- Wind generation turbines
- Natural ventilation
- Vegetated roofs
- Photovoltaic panel system
The new High School #15 site (originally Fort MacArthur) consists of two small schools, performing arts classrooms, library, administrative building and an amphitheater built into the side of a hill. Facilities also include a pool, playing fields, and a large gymnasium.
