Tuscaloosa Federal Building and Courthouse Groundbreaking (12/18/2009)
Tuscaloosa, AL – O'Connor, along with the GSA project team, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Tuscaloosa Federal Building and Courthouse. The new 127,000 SF facility will provide courtroom and office space for the U.S. District Court, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, U.S. Probation/Pretrial, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Attorney, U.S. General Services Administration, Senate and Congressional Offices, Social Security Administration, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The $48 million project will also be certified LEED Silver by the U.S. Green Building Council.
O'Connor has been involved in this project from the pre-design phase. Our services have included master scheduling, peer review cost estimates, value engineering, and providing design review service. Now in construction phase, O'Connor's team is presently providing on-site construction management and inspection services.
The new Federal Building and Courthouse is expected to open in January 2012.
