Project Description:
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas wanted a cornerstone project that helped define the future of the campus and fulfill its master plan. The Greenspun building sits on the southeastern-most corner of the campus and is the new entry portal to the entire 350-acre main campus. O'Connor initially provided the University with cost estimating and constructibility review services which included verifying and reconciling the Guaranteed Maximum Price with the Construction Manager-At-Risk. O'Connor's estimate was within 2% of the Construction Manager-At-Risk's original GMP. The State Public Works Board further elected to hire O'Connor to act as the "Extended Project Manager" to help oversee the entire construction process for this LEED Gold-designed facility. The project added over 121,000 SF of office, learning, and training space for seven academic departments including three studios and broadcasting facilities for the University television and radio stations. The project was successfully completed on schedule, facilitating University occupancy for the fall semester.
