Project Description:
The Nevada State Public Works Board and University of Nevada, Reno joined forces to construct a 128,000 SF Center for Molecular Medicine. The project includes two structural steel buildings joined by a skybridge that connects to existing campus buildings. The two buildings contain classrooms, multiple laboratories, a vivarium, an amphitheatre, faculty offices, and a central plant. The project is attempting to receive LEEDŽ Silver certification. During the design development phase, O'Connor was contracted to develop a statement of probable cost as a peer review check of the existing estimate. After comparison of the two estimates, it was determined by that O'Connor would complete all remaining cost estimating for the project. The project bid successfully within budget at $60 million.
O'Connor was then contracted to perform reviews of all contractor CPM schedules. During the baseline schedule development phase, O'Connor worked closely with the contractor to achieve a viable schedule for construction in the P6 software. Despite several scope changes and inclement Reno weather, the contractor was able to successfully complete construction in the original 630 calendar day duration.
