Project Description:

The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) System is undergoing a 10 year, $1.3 billion program to upgrade and strengthen the seismic performance of the transit system. Part of this program involves life safety and operability structure design changes to a majority of the 1,918 aerial guideway structures that are seismically weak.

As part of the design team, O'Connor is working throughout design of the Line R aerial retrofit structures. Line R runs from Richmond to Oakland (MacArthur Station), and consists of 10.6 miles of track.
