Virginia Tech’s research-intensive university system is comprised of two major campuses, two medical centers, and 12 agricultural research centers spread across the state. OCMI is directly supporting multiple Project Managers to provide expert cost analysis and cost estimating for new academic, research, residence hall and museum projects across multiple campus sites.

After the execution of the IDIQ contract, OCMI was quickly engaged to provide peer reviews, independent cost estimating, program-level estimating and design option pricing to assist the Owner and project team make critical scope and design decisions for the new Academic Building 1, located on the Innovation Campus.

OCMI has been tasked with developing conceptual project cost estimates, reviewing consultant estimates, and reconciling estimates with the architects’ consultants on behalf of Virginia Tech. In addition to cost estimates, OCMI has generated variance reports and estimate review analysis documents to illustrate cost deltas, trends, and opportunities for improvement. These services have helped project leaders understand cost realities, track price trends, and make informed decisions about future design options.
