SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center
City of Sacramento
Management of a landmark performing arts center for generations to come.
OCMI provided cost estimating services throughout design for the $99.9 million renovation to the City’s Performing Arts Center. Originally opened in 1976, the 2,500-seat performing arts center had never been expanded or renovated. Renovation plans focused on several areas of improvement, including:
- Patron improvements: ADA and building code compliance, restrooms, concessions, lobbies
- Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing Replacement: Initial scope calls for the removal of the main theatre floor to replace the HVAC system and existing seating will be replaced in a new configuration to meet ADA standards. All power, lighting, and other mechanical and plumbing systems will also be replaced.
- Performance improvements: audio, video, lighting/dimming, and rigging systems along with box office, dressing room, loading dock, and rehearsal space upgrades
- Technical Improvements: improvements to the central plant shared with City’s convention center
During construction, OCMI’s role continued with construction management, inspection, schedule review, and change order review services. The performing arts center is adjacent to the convention center and was a part of the City’s C3 projects that dramatically enhance the downtown area.
