Tom Strandberg Named Executive Vice President of OCMI

Strandberg to Advance Firmwide Goals and Growth Initiatives

OCMI announces the promotion of Tom Strandberg to Executive Vice President. In this expanded role, Tom will help lead firmwide operations, manage strategic relationships, and support continued growth in key markets and champion staff development goals as part of the executive leadership team.

“I’m excited for Tom’s promotion to Executive Vice President, a milestone that is especially meaningful after watching Tom grow with the firm over the last 18 years into one of OCMI’s most trusted leaders. Tom has continually stepped up for the firm, taking bold risks and moving across the country to take the reins in Washington, DC, transforming the office into one of our most consistently top-performing regions. I’m excited to welcome Tom into this new role and continue partnering with him to take OCMI to the next level,” stated Neil Murphy, OCMI President.

Tom’s career at OCMI spans over a decade of steady growth, leadership, and commitment to excellence. Introduced to construction management by his father, Dave Strandberg, a longtime member of OCMI’s San Diego team, Tom began his career as a project engineer and rapidly expanded his impact through client development, business development, and operational leadership.

In 2012, Tom relocated to the DC Metro region to grow OCMI’s footprint in the federal market. Over the last 13 years, he has built the region into a full-service office serving public and private clients, federal agencies, and top architecture and engineering firms along the Eastern Seaboard. His successful partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs has led to further opportunities, and expanded service offerings in cost management, scheduling, and construction management for multiple federal agencies.

As Executive Vice President, Tom will continue to foster growth of the North Bethesda, Charlotte, and Dallas offices, while assuming new firmwide responsibilities to strengthen operations, enhance consistency across business units, and translate strategic plans into actionable, measurable results.

“Possibilities are endless with dedication to the craft and when you surround yourself with people you trust and care about,” Tom said. “From humble beginnings as a project engineer – with no construction background – the time invested in me by others has been extraordinary. I was given the opportunity to chart my own course and help continue the legacy of OCMI.”

Tom’s appointment reflects OCMI’s commitment to investing in its people and expanding its leadership capacity as the firm continues to grow.
